A dental emergency can be the result of an accident or injury, but it can also be the result of needing to get treatment that you have been putting off for a while. If you are hurting or have had an accident, it is important that you receive treatment right away.
Whatever the reason, Dr. Zabek will do what he can to see you the same day and get you out of pain.
Putting off dental treatment only increases the risk of permanent damage later, and can result in the need for lengthy and more expensive treatment down the road. If you are in pain, have lost a filling or have broken a tooth, please call our emergency number now.

Do you have a dental emergency?
Accidents do happen, and knowing what to do when one occurs can mean the difference between saving and losing a tooth. Follow these tips for dealing with your dental emergency:
Toothache
Rinse your mouth with warm water to clean it out. Gently use dental floss or an interdental cleaner to ensure that there is no food or other debris caught between the teeth. Never put aspirin or any other painkiller against the gums near the aching tooth because it may burn the gum tissue. If the pain persists, call Dr. Zabek at (415) 362.1102.
Broken Tooth
Rinse your mouth with warm water to clean the area. Use cold compresses on the area to keep any swelling down. Call Dr. Zabek at (415) 362.1102 immediately.
Cracked Tooth
A crack in your tooth can be caused by biting down on a hard object, tooth grinding, or brittle tooth enamel from a root canal or large filling. If you notice pain when you bite down or sensitivity to cold, heat or sweet in an area of your mouth, your tooth could be cracked. Make an appointment with Dr. Zabek and get a thorough examination.
Knocked Out Tooth
Hold the tooth by the crown and rinse off the root of the tooth in water if it's dirty. Do not scrub it or remove any attached tissue fragments. If possible, gently insert and hold the tooth in its socket. If that isn't possible, put the tooth in a cup of milk and get in to see Dr. Zabek as quickly as possible. Remember to bring the tooth with you!
Bitten Lip or Tongue
Clean the area gently with a cloth and apply cold compresses to reduce any swelling. If the bleeding doesn't stop, call Dr. Zabek at (415) 362.1102 immediately.
Objects Caught Between Teeth
Try to gently remove the object with dental floss; avoid cutting the gums. Never use a sharp instrument to remove anyobject that is stuck between your teeth. If you can't dislodge the object using dental floss, contact Dr. Zabek at (415) 362.1102.
Patient Testimonials
"Dr. Zabek has been my dentist for 23 years. I came to him for a checkup and teeth cleaning, and I've continued to see him regularly.
"I cracked one of my front teeth, which looked bad. He repaired it and did a beautiful job. He's fixed cavities for me, done a root canal or two, and several crowns. I've never had to get anything corrected that he's done, it's always been on the money the first time.
"His work is outstanding, and that's the main reason that I would recommend him. I really like the warmth and atmosphere of the office, but it's Dr. Zabek's skill and ability to fix it the first time and without hurting me that keeps me coming back." – Peter H.
